What Is the Stretch Score?
Every deal we share gets a Stretch Score from 1 to 10 — a single number that answers one question: how far does your dollar actually stretch here? It's why we don't just repost every sale we find.
You'll see the score on every deal card and a full breakdown on each deal page, so you can see exactly which part of a deal is strong — and which part isn't.
The four factors
Discount depth
35% of the scoreHow far the price fell from its regular price. A 70%+ markdown scores a perfect 10.
Why it matters: A big percentage off is the clearest sign a retailer is clearing inventory instead of running a fake sale.
Dollar savings
20% of the scoreThe actual dollars kept in your pocket — $100+ saved scores a 10, small savings score lower.
Why it matters: 30% off a $5 item isn't the same as 30% off a $200 item. Real money matters more than a percent sign.
Price accessibility
20% of the scoreWhat you pay today. Under $10 scores a 10; scores taper as the final price climbs.
Why it matters: A deal only helps if it fits this week's budget. We favor picks a real family can act on now.
Shopper confidence
25% of the scoreCustomer rating, adjusted for how many reviews back it up. No rating means a neutral score, never a bonus.
Why it matters: A cheap product that disappoints isn't a savings — it's a return trip.
Reading the score
- 9.5 – 10 Exceptional Value — stop scrolling, this is a rare one.
- 8.5 – 9.4 Excellent Value — a genuinely strong buy.
- 7.5 – 8.4 Strong Value — worth it if you need the item.
- 6.5 – 7.4 Good Value — solid, but not a run-don't-walk price.
- Below 6.5 Fair Value — fine, but it may go lower later.
Most scores are calculated automatically from the deal's own numbers, so they're consistent from deal to deal. When our team knows something the numbers don't — a notoriously short-lived price, a household staple worth stocking up on — an editor can override the score by hand, and we'll say so on the deal page.
